Caden Broersma threw four touchdowns on 8-for-13 passing and 235 yards and rushed for two scores to lead the Mona Shores football squad to a 42-20 win over Kenowa Hills in an O-K Black Conference game.

The Sailors led 7-6 after the first quarter, 29-6 at halftime and 42-14 through three quarters.

Broersma opened the scoring for Mona Shores with a five-yard touchdown run to give the Sailors a 7-6 lead.

The Sailors scored 22 unanswered second quarter points on a 27 and 25 yard touchdown receptions by Jaylen Hopson from Broersma, who also scored another rushing touchdown from five yards out.

Brady Rose caught a 53-yard touchdown pass from Broersma in the third quarter to give Mona Shores a 36-6 lead.

Kenowa Hills cut its deficit to 36-14, before Hopson caught his third touchdown pass from Broersma to increase the Sailor lead to a 42-14 margin.

Hopson had five catches for 120 yards and three touchdowns while Tre Hatcher rushed for 98 yards on 12 carries.

The Knights scored the lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Kolbe Trovinger paced the Mona Shores defense with 15 tackles.

The Sailors are now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. They will travel to play Grand Rapids Union next Friday.
