The Fremont football team dropped its conference game at Newaygo by a score of 46-14 on Friday.

The Packers trailed 14-0 after the first quarter and 20-0 early in the second stanza before scoring 14 unanswered points to cut their deficit to 20-14 at halftime.

Newaygo scored 19 third quarter points to take a 39-14 lead heading into the fourth quarter before scoring the lone touchdown in the final stanza.

Fremont’s quarterback Cody Andree scored on a one-yard touchdown run, and then later connected with wide receiver Christian Kennedy for a 28-yard touchdown reception.

Andree recorded 98 yards passing on the game for the Packers, while Carter Dunbar led the ground game with 79 yards rushing on 15 carries. Kennedy finished with a team-high 96 yards in receiving.

Payten Mansfield led the Fremont defense with eight tackles.

The Packers fell to 0-5 on the season and will look for their first win next week at home against Grant.
