Khole Hofmann’s three-touchdown performance helped propel the Mason County Central football team over Hart 40-8 on Friday in a West Michigan Conference contest.

Hofmann, who rushed for 175 yards, opened the scoring for the Spartans with a six-yard touchdown run to give Mason County Central a 7-0 lead.

A three-yard scamper from Raiden Keefer five minutes later extended the Spartans lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.

Earl Galindo answered late in first quarter for the Pirates, running from 10 yards out to cut the deficit to 14-8.

The Spartans held on to a 14-8 advantage at halftime.

Hofmann quickly got the offense kicking again in the second half, with touchdown runs of 24 and 13 yards, to put the Spartans up 27-8 heading into the fourth stanza.

Keefer and Alex Florian added on to the lead in the fourth with nine and 12-yard touchdown run, respectively, to seal the victory.

Avery Carr added 92 yards on the ground while Keefer racked up 22 yards on five carries.

Malakye Strejcek was a beast on defense tonight for the Spartans, leading the team with 11 tackles, with Carr and Jonathon Peterson chipped in with five apiece.

The Spartans improved to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 on the West Michigan conference while Hart drop its record to 1-2 on the year and 1-1 in league play.
