The Fruitport football team fell at home against Jenison in an OK-Black Conference matchup on Friday night by a score of 56-21.

Aiden Vela kicked off the scoring, punching in a nine-yard touchdown scamper to put the Trojans up 7-0 after the first quarter. Jenison responded with a touchdown in the second quarter, tying the game at 7-7.

Fruitport answered with a 67-yard touchdown pass from Vela to Camden Farrell, giving the Trojans a 14-7 lead.

Jenison responded with six touchdowns of their own taking a 49-14 lead over Fruitport midway through the third quarter.

Near the end of the third quarter, Fruitport’s Ethan Flores found the endzone on a 97-yard kick return to make the score 49-21.

Jenison scored once more in the final quarter to put the game away.

Vela led the Trojans on the ground, rushing for 28 yards. Quarterback Tyler Zimmerman passed for 160 yards while Farrell led the receivers with 84 yards receiving. Richardson led the defense with 16 tackles including one sack.

Fruitport falls to 1-2 on the season and will travel to Grand Rapids Union next week for another conference game.
