Despite allowing 21 unanswered fourth quarter points, the Grand Haven football team managed to defeat East Kentwood 31-28 in overtime on Friday in an O-K Red Conference contest.

Owen Krizan opened the scoring for the Buccaneers with an 87-yard interception return for a touchdown to give Grand Haven a 7-0 lead.

East Kentwood tied the game 7-7 before the Bucs closed the first quarter scoring with a 26-yard touchdown run by Krizan.

Grand Haven led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter.

The Buccaneers increased their lead to 28-7 at halftime after scoring on a 46-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Alex Kapala to Braydon Franz and a six-yard run from Connor Worthington.

Both teams failed to score during the third stanza.

The Falcons scored 21 straight fourth quarter points to force an overtime period.

Grand Haven kicker connected on a 24-yard field goal for the lone score in the extra stanza.

Worthington recorded a team-high 97 yards rushing while Krizan added 82 yards on the ground. Will McWatters led the defense with six tackles.

Grand Haven improved to 2-4 on the season and will host Caledonia next Friday.
