Hesperia kept things close for a half, but faded against Morley Stanwood in a 38-0 CSAA Silver loss on Friday night.

After falling behind 6-0 early on, the Panthers responded with a long march down the field. The drive stalled inside the Mohawk 10-yard-line and Hesperia came away with no points. Morley Stanwood added a touchdown before the half, taking a 14-0 lead to the break.

The Mohawks took control in the second half and erupted for 24 points to put the game away. They put up 428 yards of total offense, while Hesperia managed just 104 yards.

Leading the Panthers was Logan Balkema, who had a team-high 43 yards rushing, while also contributing 14 tackles on defense. Connor VanBuskirk chipped in defensively with 11 tackles.

Morley Stanwood clinched the conference title with the victory, moving to an undefeated 4-0 in conference and 5-2 overall.

Hesperia drops to 2-3 in conference and 2-5 overall heading into next week’s match vs. Orchard View.
