The Ludington football topped rival Mason County Central 35-12 Friday night in non-league play.

Mason County Central opened the scoring midway through the second quarter on a six-yard touchdown rush by Khole Hofmann.

The Orioles responded quickly, with Riley Calhoun connecting with Levi Laman on a five-yard touchdown pass, to give Ludington a 7-6 lead at the half.

Drew Arce took the second half kickoff 84 yards to increase the Orioles lead to 14-6 early in the third quarter.
Ludington added another touchdown on its next possession, scoring on a one-yard run by Calhoun to give the Orioles and 21-6 advantage.

Hofmann responded on the ensuing Spartan possession, with a 57-yard touchdown run, to cut the Oriole lead to 21-12.

Calhoun then answered quickly for the Orioles with a big play of his own, a 50-yard run to make Ludington’s lead increased to 28-12.

Skylar Gerber iced the game for the Orioles with a three-yard touchdown run, securing the Lumbermen’s Cup for a fourth straight year.

The Orioles had two 100-yard rushers on the night, with Calhoun tallying 10 carries for 111 yards and two scores and Gerber with 11 carries for 106 yards and one touchdown.

Khole Hofmann led the Spartans with 25 carries for 175 yards and two touchdowns.

The Orioles end the season with a 7-2 record and will await their matchup in the MHSAA Playoffs, while Mason County Central ends its season with a 2-7 record.
