The Muskegon Lumberjacks are off to a slow start offensively and are still searching their first win of the season.

The Lumberjacks dropped their third straight game, falling to the Youngstown Phantoms 4-2 on Friday from the Covelli Centre in Ohio.

Muskegon is now 0-3 on the season and will look for its first win Saturday on the road against the Phantoms.

The Phantoms jumped out to a 2-0 lead on goals from Linden Alger (5:09) and Reilly Funk (9:36) in the first period.

The Lumberjacks cut their deficit to 2-1 on a tally by Luke Mobley at the 19:02 mark of the first period. Tanner Edwards assisted on the tally.

Youngstown scored the lone goal of the second period at the 3:13 mark by Funk to give the Phantoms a 3-1 lead.

The Phantoms increased their lead to 4-1 on a goal from John Beaton 11:26 into the third period.

Oliver MacDonald closed out the scoring for the Jacks at the 15:18 mark of the third stanza.

Each team recorded 22 shots apiece.
