The Mason County Central football team defeated Shelby 33-21 in West Michigan Conference action Friday night.
Mason County Central responded with three-yard touchdown run by Khole Hofmann to tie the game 7-7.
Shelby regained its advantage to 14-7 with 65-yard touchdown rush by Madrigal.
The Tigers led 14-7 after the first quarter.
The Spartans cut their deficit to 14-13 at halftime after a 40-yard touchdown run by Hofmann.
Mason County Central took a 27-14 lead after three quarters, scoring on a 49-yard touchdown run by Raiden Keefer and a 51-yard touchdown connection from Hofmann to Keefer.
The Spartans added a touchdown from one yard out by Avery Carr to take a 33-14 lead.
The Tigers closed out the scoring with 51-yard touchdown reception by Jason Hubbard.
MCC’s Khole Hofmann rushed for 165 yards in the game while Raiden Keefer rushed for 89 yards on the night.
The Spartans improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in the conference. They will travel to Whitehall next Friday.
Shelby’s Lazaro Madrigal rushed for 171 yards on the night.
The Tigers dropped to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. They will host Montague next week.
