The Mona Shores football team rolled past Grand Rapids Union 55-0 in an O-K Black Conference matchup Friday night.

The Sailors jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

Jaylen Hopson opened the scoring for Mona Shores with a 25-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Caden Broersma.

Broersma then connected with Brady Rose for an 11-yard touchdown passing to increase the Sailors lead to 14-0.

Rose closed out the first quarter scoring with a 38-yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Sailors increased their lead to 42-0 at halftime with two punt return touchdowns (50 and 57 yards) by Hopson and a 43-yard touchdown run from Andre Burks Jr.

Mona Shores scored the lone touchdown in the third quarter on a five yard touchdown run from Blake Bustard to give the Sailors a 49-0 advantage.

Dylan Dieselberg closed out scoring for the Sailors in the fourth quarter with a 47-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Burks led the ground game with 80 yards rushing while Rose led the receivers with 30 yards. Broersma finished with 77 yards passing for Mona Shores on five completions.

Elijah Johnson and Cam Sobish led the Sailor defense with four tackles each.

The Sailors improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. They play host to Jenison next week for homecoming.
