The Oakridge football squad kept up its winning ways on Friday with a 70-8 victory over Hart in a West Michigan Conference game.

Leroy Quinn scored the first two touchdowns for the Eagles on rushes of five and 33 yards, giving Oakridge an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

The scoring didn’t stop there as Ethan Daley connected with Luke Martin on a 46-yard touchdown pass and Corey Vanderputte broke off a 55-yard run to double the Eagle lead to 28-0.

Shaw Raymond capped off the opening quarter with a 40-yard pick six, making it a 35-0 Eagles advantage after one stanza.

Quinn and Vanderputte were the lead backs in the second quarter for the Eagles, as Quinn broke off touchdown runs of 81 and 40 yards while Vanderputte added touchdown runs of 35 and 76 yards, making it 63-0 Eagles at the half.

Near the end of the third quarter, Raymond scored again for the Eagles, this time as a running back, scampering in from 17-yards to add to the Oakridge lead.

Adrian Rendon got the Pirates on the board in the fourth quarter, as Braeden Carskad was able to connect with him for a 22-yard touchdown pass, and after Carskad ran in the two-point conversion, the final score was set at 70-8.

Quinn and Vanderputte were very efficient on the ground, with neither carrying the ball more than seven times, rushing for 179 and 113 yards, respectively.

 

Vanderputte was the leading tackler for the Eagles as well with nine, while Ethan Jozsa and Nate Fair chipped in with seven each.

 

The Eagles moved to 6-0 on the year and 5-0 in conference play. They will travel to North Muskegon next Friday.

 

Hart fell to 1-5 and 0-5 in conference play and will travel to Ravenna next week.
