The Spring Lake football team dropped its conference game against Allendale by a score of 52-14 on Friday.

The Lakers defense struggled early, giving up three unanswered touchdowns in the first quarter.

After another Falcon touchdown early in the second, Spring Lake’s Sam Sheridan found the end zone on a 23-yard touchdown run to make the score 28-7.

Allendale responded to the touchdown, then the Lakers scored on a Zach Mitchell 70-yard kickoff return to make the score 35-14 going into halftime.

Defensive struggles continued in the second half with the Lakers giving up 17 unanswered points.

Quarterback Zach Keyser finished with 96 yards passing on nine completions. Sam Sheridan had 48 yards rushing while Dayton Holmes had a team-high 39 yards receiving.

Ty French led the Laker defense with five tackles.

Spring Lakes falls to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in the O-K Blue Conference. The Lakers will host Holland Christian next Friday.
