The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team overcame an early deficit to defeat Owens Community College on Tuesday on the road, 72-65.

Owens led 19-13 after one quarter and the game was tied 31-31 at halftime. The Jayhawks woke up in the third quarter, outscoring their hosts 20-13 and led 51-44 headed into the fourth.

Iyana Brown led the Jayhawks on the stat sheet with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Gracie Reinhold also had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Tanae Hamer contributed 17 points and Yasmine Colon added 12.

MCC, now 7-1 on the season, will resume play on Dec. 28 at Henry Ford Community College.
