The Holton boys basketball team used a balanced scoring attack to claim an impressive 68-53 victory over Newaygo on Tuesday in a CSAA cross-division contest.

Holton’s Aidan Poling led the team with 22 points, Nathan Slowik added 19, Chip Wright recorded 12 and Drew Trygstad contributed nine.

The Red Devils improved to 2-1 on the season. They will travel to Morley-Stanwood on Friday for a CSAA Silver Division game.

NON-CONFERENCE

GRAND HAVEN 57, GODWIN HEIGHTS 35 – Grand Haven gained control of the contest by outscoring Godwin Heights 18-2 in the
first quarter.

Adam Strom led the Bucs with eight points. Landon Van Beek, Owen Worthington and Harrison Sorrelle each contributed seven in the win.

Grand Haven is now 2-0 on the season.

WEST OTTAWA 74, REETHS PUFFER 43 – Facing a 40-22 first-half deficit, the Rockets struggled to battle back in the non-conference
matchup.

Emcee Williams led Reeths-Puffer with 14 points while Kendall Smith recorded nine.

The Rockets fell to 1-2 on the season. They travel to Greenville on Friday.

HART 61, HESPERIA 24 – Hart jumped out to a 24-3 lead in the first quarter and carried a commanding 39-5 advantage into the second half.

Hart was led by Hunter Tubbs with 21 points. Ayden Beachum added a double-double performance with 14 points and 16 rebounds while teammate Gabe Gamble scored 10 points.

The Pirates are now 2-1 overall. They will host Mason County Central on Thursday.

PENTWATER 63, WALKERVILLE 22 – The Falcons jumped out to a 26-14 first-half lead. By the end of the third quarter, they were up 47-20.

Gannon McDonough and Tyler Plummer Eisenlohr paced Pentwater with 17 points each. Jack Stoneman followed with eight points while Khole Hofmann added seven. Ethan Wilkinson snagged nine rebounds for the Falcons.

Pentwater improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play.

FREMONT 71, MONTAGUE 48 – The Packers maintained a slim 17-15 advantage after the first quarter and a 32-26 lead at halftime, then took control by outscoring the Wildcats 25-13 in the third quarter.

Braiden McDonald paced Fremont with 28 points. Tristan Campbell added 15 points and 11 rebounds while Carter Moon scored10 points.

Fremont remains perfect, improving to 4-0 on the season. The team will host Big Rapids on Friday.

OAKRIDGE 84, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 38 – A balanced offensive attack allowed the Oakridge boys to come
away with a non-conference victory.

Austin Fairchild led the Oakridge attack with 15 points. Luke Martin added 14 points while Tanner Karel and Ethan Jozsa recorded 13 and 12, respectively.

Oakridge led 17-6 after one quarter, 31-18 at halftime and 51-27 after three quarters.

Jacob Schuitema paced Fruitport Calvary with 13 points, Jacob May added 11 while Ben Zelenka recorded nine.

RAVENNA 72, ZION CHRISTIAN 31 – The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 with the victory. They took control early, jumping out
to a 24-8 lead in the first quarter and 51-17 at halftime.

Jacob May paced the Bulldogs with 17 points and four assists. Hunter Funk had 13 points and six rebounds while Calvin Schullo recorded 12 points and four rebounds.

Ravenna travels to Whitehall for a West Michigan Conference matchup on Thursday.
