The North Muskegon girls basketball team won its West Michigan Conference opener over Mason County Central Friday night by a 45-42 margin.

The Spartans led 36-31 heading into the fourth quarter but were outscored 14-6 during the final stanza.

The Norse were led by Madi Clarke and Chandler Falkowski with nine points each while Jaala Duncan added eight. Falkowski also chipped in with 13 rebounds.

Adria Quigley paced the Spartans with nine points while Nyah Tyron had a solid stat line of seven points, seven rebounds and five steals.

North Muskegon improved to 1-1 on the year MCC fell to 1-1.

MONTAGUE 49, RAVENNA 37- The Wildcats outscored Ravenna by a 17-2 margin during the third quarter after leading only 24-23 at halftime.

Braquelle Osborne led Montague with 11 points while Andy Zamojcin added 10 points and eight rebounds. Ally Hall chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats are now 2-0 on the season and 1-0 in West Michigan Conference play.

SHELBY 40, WHITEHALL 30– The Tigers led 10-5 after the first quarter, 16-10 at halftime and 31-26 through three stanzas.

Ella Olmstead led Shelby with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Kendall Zoulek added 11 points and six rebounds.

The Tigers also had strong contributions from Lexi Schultz (6 points and 6 steals) and both Lauren Dean and Sharon Josephson with seven rebounds apiece.
