The Ravenna boys basketball team earned a conference win over North Muskegon 50-42 on Friday in West Michigan Conference play.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the first and had a 29-11 advantage at the half.

Ravenna was outscored 18-9 in the third quarter, but still managed to hang on to the lead.

The Bulldogs were paced by Trevor Sterken with 14 points and four assists, while Jacob May and Calvin Schullo each added 10 points. Hunter Funk recorded a team-high 14 rebounds.

Trevor Schultz led North Muskegon with 12 points. John Hayhurst followed with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Jack Dobb added 10 points.

Ravenna improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the Norse fell to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

SHELBY 46, HART 30 – The Tigers got off to a quick start offensively, leading 17-8 after one and carrying a 26-13 lead into the half.

Shelby outscored Hart 12-8 in the third quarter.

The Tigers were paced by Joseph Hayes with 21 points while Zach Munoz followed with 12. Logan Claeys recorded a team-high eight rebounds while adding nine points.

Ayden Beachum had a team-high six points for the Pirates.

Shelby improved to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play while the Pirates fell to 3-4 overall and 0-4 in league play.

LAKES 8 CONFERENCE

LUDINGTON 57, MANISTEE 26 – The Orioles jumped out to an 18-9 lead in the first quarter and maintained an advantage at the half.

Despite giving up an early seven points to begin the third, the Orioles went on a 28-4 run to finish the game.

Ludington was led by Peyton LaCombe with 16 points with Brayden Porter following with 14.

The Orioles improved to 6-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The team plays host to Muskegon Heights next Friday.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 52, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 27 – The Warriors jumped out to a 15-8 lead after the first quarter, led 29-14 at halftime and had a 42-21 advantage through three quarters.

Kellen Mitchell paced WMC with a game-high 21 points while Owen Varnado added 13. Brandon Fles pulled down six rebounds.

The Warriors are now 4-2 on the season and 2-1 in league play.

LAKEVIEW 45, HESPERIA 23 – The Panthers trailed early, falling behind 10-4 after the first and 18-11 deficit at the half.

Hesperia was outscored 14-5 in the third quarter and trailed 32-16 through three quarters.

Logan Balkema led the Panthers with seven points.

Hesperia is now 0-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The team plays host to Oakridge next Tuesday.

FREMONT 78, CENTRAL MONTCALM 64 – The Packers remained unbeaten Friday night as they notched another conference win.

Fremont jumped out to a 27-13 lead in the first quarter and held a 43-34 advantage at the half.

The Packers outscored Central Montcalm 15-10 in the third frame.

Carter Moon led the offense with 19 points while adding 10rebounds. Tristan Campbell followed with 15 points and 15 rebounds while Chris Kennedy added 16 points and five steals. Josh Zerfas recorded eight points and a team-high six assists.

The Packers, now 6-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play, host Newaygo next Tuesday.

HOLTON 56, WHITE CLOUD 30– Nathan Slowik led the Red Devils with 21 points tonight in a CSAA Silver Division conference win.

Lukas Ramaekers added 17, while Aidan Poling chipped in with nine.

The Red Devils are now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in CSAA Silver Division play.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

MUSKEGON 51, GRAND RAPIDS UNION 44 – The Big Reds outscored GR Union by a 21-12 margin during the fourth quarter to complete a comeback victory in their conference opener.

Muskegon trailed 11-7 after the first quarter and 22-17 at halftime. The Red Hawks had a slim 32-30 advantage heading into the final quarter.

Jarvis Walker paced the Big Reds with 20 points while Sammarri Knox chipped in with nine.

The Big Reds are now 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in O-K Black Conference play.

FRUITPORT 69, KENOWA HILLS 61 – The Trojans kicked off conference play in the OK Black with a win. The Trojans jumped to a 19-7 lead in the first quarter and took a 35-22 lead into the half.

The Trojans were led by Marcelo Conklin who scored a season high 18 points. Gavin Fisher and Luke Mitchell both scored 14 points for Fruitport.

Fruitport is on a three game winning streak, improving 1-0 in OK Black conference play and 3-2 overall.

ALLIANCE

ZION CHRISTIAN 57, FRUITPORT CALVARY 47 – Poor shooting and rebounding plagued the Eagles as they dropped their conference game.

Calvary was led by Ben Zelenka with 16 points, while Jacob May followed with 15 and Jacob Schitema recorded 11.

The Eagles fell to 0-8 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

ALLENDALE 62, SPRING LAKE 52 – The Lakers trailed early, falling behind 15-10 in the first and 29-20 at the halftime.

The Lakers were outscored 18-16 in the third frame.

Sam Sheridan paced Spring Lake with 16 points. Lucas Lyyski followed with 11 points and 15 rebounds while Cayden Ball added 10 points.

The Lakers fell to 3-3 overall and are now 0-1 in conference play.
