The Western Michigan Christian boys basketball team earned a Lakes 8 win, defeating Orchard View 59-53 on Friday.

The Warriors led 18-10 after the first quarter and 34-24 at halftime.

Orchard View went on a 23-13 third quarter run to tie the game 47-47 heading the final quarter, but WMC closed out the game strong with a 12-6 tear during the last stanza.

Kellen Mitchell had a team-high 27 points for the Warriors, while Owen Varnado added 16 points and six rebounds. Brandon Fles chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.

ALLIANCE LEAGUE

WYOMING POTTER’S HOUSE CHRISTIAN 80, FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 58-The Eagles fell behind 25-8 in the first quarter and trailed 43-22 at halftime. A slow start to the second half led a 69-35 deficit through three quarters.

The Eagles were led by Ben Zelenka with 26 points while Jacob May pitched in with eight.

Fruitport Calvary is now 1-11 overall and 1-7 in league play.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

REETHS PUFFER 66, GRAND RAPIDS UNION 51- The Rockets trailed 9-7 after the first quarter and 26-21 at halftime.

Reeths-Puffer stormed back during the second half, eventually taking a 41-39 lead into the fourth quarter before cruising to a victory.

Emcee Williams paced the Rockets with 17 points. Kaleb Mitchelson pitched in with 11 points and six assists, while Gary Humphrey III had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

The Rockets improved to 9-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

O-K BLUE CONFERENCE

SPRING LAKE 70, SPARTA 56- The Lakers led 21-17 after the first quarter, but trailed 35-30 at halftime and 49-47 entering the fourth quarter.

 

Spring Lake closed out the game strong, going to a 23-7 tear to earn the league victory.

 

The Lakers were paced by Kaden George with 24 points, while Lucas Lyyski had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sam Sheridan chipped in with 13 points.

 

Spring Lake improved to 7-6 on the season and 3-3 in O-K Blue Conference play.
