Jeffery Carrier’s game-high 26 points propelled the Mason County Central boys basketball team to a 53-44 win over Whitehall on Friday night in a West Michigan Conference game.

The Spartans had a 27-14 advantage in the first half. Mason County Central was outscored by a 15-13 margin during the third quarter.

Whitehall also outscored the Spartans 15-13 during the fourth quarter but could not complete the comeback.

Dayton Cole led the Vikings with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Andrew Durbin contributed with eight points. Also chipping in was Alfred McGlothlin, who had 12 rebounds.

Mason County Central improved to 5-5 overall and 3-4 in conference, while the Vikings are 3-6 overall and 3-4 in conference action.

OAKRIDGE 52, NORTH MUSKEGON 39 – The Eagles scored 21 second quarter points and allowed just seven, leading to a 31-17 halftime advantage after a first quarter tie.

Oakridge maintained its lead in the third, outscoring the Norse by an 8-6 margin.

Tanner Karel led the Eagles with 14 points while Austin Fairchild followed with 10.

The Norse were paced by John Hayhurst with 13 points and nine rebounds while Trevor Schultz added seven points and five rebounds.

Oakridge improved to 8-4 overall and 6-1 in conference play, while the Norse fell to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in league play.

RAVENNA 46, SHELBY 35 – The Bulldogs continued their undefeated run with a league win on Friday.

Ravenna led 11-4 after one quarter and 20-13 at halftime. The Bulldogs extended their lead in the third stanza and had a 34-23 lead going into the fourth.

Jacob May led the Bulldogs with a 15-point and 11-rebound double-double, while Calvin Schullo followed suit with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Chipping in as well were Trevor Stern also with 11 points, and Hunter Funk with seven points and eight rebounds.

Ravenna improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in conference, while the Tigers fell to 1-8 overall and 1-6 in league action.

MONTAGUE 78, HART 56 – The Wildcats jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter and led 42-21 at the half.

Montague maintained its lead in the third frame, outscoring the Pirates by a 20-16 margin.

Asher Erickson paced the Wildcats with 20 points, while Tate Stine recorded 12 points and 10 assists and Aidan Buchberger added 11 points. Chase Peterson added a team-high eight rebounds.

The Pirates were led by Ayden Beachum with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Zach Bitely recorded 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.

The Wildcats improved to 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the West Michigan Conference while Hart fell to 4-7 overall and 0-7 in league play.
