The Fruitport Calvary girls basketball team defeated a tough Central Montcalm squad 50-46 on Friday at the Cornerstone University Invitational Showcase.

The Eagles jumped out to a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter and led 25-20 at halftime.

Fruitport Calvary opened the second half on a 10-7 run and led 35-27 during the third quarter.

Central Montcalm countered with 14 straight points to took a 41-35 lead late in the contest.

The Eagles overcame the deficit, closing the contest on a 15-5 run. The game-winning basket was scored by Lizzie Cammenga with one minute left in the game.

Kelsey Richards paced Fruitport Calvary offensively with 33 points, while Kyra Hamilton pulled down 11 rebounds. Cammenga had a solid game with nine points, nine rebounds and six assists.

The Eagles are now 5-1 overall on the season.
