The Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team made a lot of history in its 67-31 victory over Grand Rapids Wellspring on Friday night.

The Eagles won their 53rd consecutive conference game, dating back to 2014, to set a new Alliance League record. The previous record was held by West Michigan Lutheran, which won 52 in a row between 2000 and 2012.

Meanwhile, Calvary senior Kelsey Richards reached the 2,000-point scoring mark for her career.

Calvary Christian jumped out to a 33-18 halftime lead, then sealed the victory by opening the second half with a 29-4 run.

Richards hit the 2,000-point mark on a free throw in the third quarter. She finished with 22 points and had 10 rebounds and five assists. Lizzie Cammenga shared a similar stat line, totaling 22 points and 10 assists.

Fruitport Calvary Christian improved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
