Jayhawks lose league opener against Mid-Michigan in women’s basketball

The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team lost to unbeaten Mid-Michigan Community College 82-64 on Saturday in its league opener.

The Jayhawks jumped out to an 18-16 advantage after the first quarter, but trailed 40-31 at halftime and 58-50 through three quarters.

Yasmine Colon led MCC with 15 points and six rebounds, while Kacy Jeffries added 14 points and eight rebounds. Tierra Williams chipped in with 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Jayhawks are now 8-2 on the season and 0-1 in league play.
