The Muskegon Big Reds boys basketball team played strong during the first half, leading to a 47-37 win over Grand Rapids Union in an O-K Black Conference game on Friday.

The Big Reds outscored Union 27-11 in the first half, which gave them a good foundation for what was a competitive second half where Union outscored them by a 26-20 margin.

Vern Nash led Muskegon with 16 points, followed by Jarvis Walker with 11.

Muskegon improved to 11-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
