The Whitehall boys basketball team bounced back from a halftime deficit, beating Mason County Central 57-49 on Friday in a West Michigan Conference contest.

The Spartans led 16-13 after the first quarter and 24-20 at the half. Whitehall took the lead with a 16-10 edge in the third quarter, going up 36-34 heading to the final quarter.

Dayton Cole led Whitehall with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Red Watson followed with 10 points, five assists and four steals.

Jeffery Carrier carried the Spartans with 25 points. Will Chye added 11.

Whitehall improved to 8-10 overall and 7-7 in league play. The Spartans fall to 9-10 overall and 5-9 in conference play.

NORTH MUSKEGON 42, OAKRIDGE 29- The game was close during the first half until momentum swung towards the Norse during the third quarter. Free throws helped North Muskegon seal the win.

Eric Rypstra paced the Norseman with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while John Hayhurst pitched in with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The Eagles were led by Tanner Karel with 10 points and Ethan Josza added eight.

The Norseman improved to 14-5 overall and 10-4 in conference play, while Oakridge fell to 13-6 on the season and 11-3 in league action.

RAVENNA 47, SHELBY 33 – The Bulldogs maintained their bid for a perfect season.

Ravenna controlled the first half with a 15-point advantage and maintained control.

Calvin Schullo paced Ravenna with 14 points, followed by Jacob May with nine. Hunter Funk chipped in with seven points and 11 rebounds.

The Bulldogs improved to 19-0 overall and is 14-0 in conference, while Shelby dropped to 2-16 on the season and is 2-12 in league play.

MONTAGUE 56, HART 38 — The Montague offense exploded in the first half, jumping out to a 19-4 first quarter lead and holding a commanding 32-5 advantage at the half.

The Pirates bounced back with a 17-8 edge in the third quarter, but the deficit was too big to overcome.
Asher Erickson led Montague scorers with 13 points. Chase Peterson added 10, while Tugg Nichols finished with nine. Riley Hagen scored eight points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds,
Ayden Beachum paced the Pirates with 10 points while Zach Bitely added seven points.

The Wildcats are now 9-10 overall and 7-7 in league play and host Belding next Thursday for their last regular season contest.

The Pirates are now 4-15 on the season and will host Muskegon Catholic Central to close the regular season on Tuesday.
