The Montague girls basketball team remained in the West Michigan Conference championship race with a 54-39 victory over North Muskegon on Tuesday.

The game was close at halftime, with Montague only leading18-16. But the Wildcats broke away with a 20-6 advantage in the third quarter.

Ally Hall led the way for the Wildcats with 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Montague improved to 13-4 overall and are 10-2 in the conference. North Muskegon moves to 4-12 and 2-10.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

SHELBY 46, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 34 – The Tigers jumped out to a 16-0 lead after one quarter and cruised to eh conference victory.

Kendall Zoulek had a big night for Shelby with 18 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and five assists. Lexi Schultz added 11 points and four assists.

Nyah Tyron paced MCC with 17 points while Grace VanDyke added 10.

Shelby is now 10-7 overall and 7-3 in conference play.

OAKRIDGE 43, RAVENNA 26 – The Eagles led 8-5 after one quarter, then took control in the second quarter and had a 24-8 lead at halftime.

The Eagles’ pressure defense resulted in 17 steals.

Leah Lowry led Oakridge with 12 points.  Kyla Stewart added nine points, four rebounds and four steals. Taryn Thompson added eight points, four rebounds and two steals and Destiyni Lane totaled five steals.

SPRING LAKE 27, COOPERSVILLE 22 – The Lakers trailed by a 5-2 score after one quarter, the game was tied 11-11 at halftime, then Spring Lake ground out a low-scoring conference win in the second half.

Phoebe Saunders paced the Lakers with nine points. Meah Bajt added seven points and stood out defensively. Nicole Schmitt also had a strong defensive game, and had a huge free throw in the final seconds.

Spring Lake is now 5-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

WEST MICHIGAN D LEAGUE

PENTWATER 50, BEAR LAKE 6 – The Falcons held their opponents to two scoreless quarters in a dominant display.

The Falcons were paced by Terra Cluchey with 14 points while Jhordan Miller-Rowe chipped in with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Pentwater improved to 6-9 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
