The Muskegon Catholic girls basketball team comeback effort fell just short on Wednesday, losing 42-38 to Holland Black River.

After trailing 31-21 after three quarters, the Crusaders outscored Holland Black River 17-11 over the final eight minutes.

Jailyn Johnson and McKenna Gentry each had 10 points to lead Muskegon Catholic while Calvin’Nae Simmons chipped in eight points and 12 rebounds.

With the loss, the Crusaders are now 2-13 overall on the season.
