Orchard View’s Ke’Ontae Barnes was the hero against Fremont in a non-conference overtime thriller on Tuesday night in boys basketball action.

Barnes’ 35 foot buzzer beater gave his Cardinals a 63-60 win and handed Fremont just its second loss of the season.

Despite being tied 10-10 in the first quarter, Orchard View maintained a 24-19 lead at the half. At the end of the third, Orchard View led 38-32.

Fremont roared back in the fourth and outscored Orchard View 22-16 in the quarter after trailing by 12 points with four minutes to go in the game. The Packers tied the score 54-54 to force overtime off the play of Braiden McDonald who finished with 26 points.

In overtime, both teams battled to a 60-60 tie before Barnes’ game ending shot.

Barnes led the Cardinals with 30 points and added 11 rebounds and seven assists. Jay Jay Tunstull recorded 10 points while Darius Williams contributed eight points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in the win.

Fremont’s Carter Moon and Joshua Zerfas added 13 and nine points, respectively.

The Cardinals improve to 7-4 overall. Fremont falls to 11-2 overall.
