The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team is moving on to the state semifinals. The Rockets came away with a tight 36-30 win over Warren Woods Tower at the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo on Friday night.

Reeths-Puffer will face off against Lowell in the semifinals at noon on Saturday at Wings Event Center for a spot in the state finals, which will take place later in the day. 

Hunter McCall got R-P started on the right foot with a pin in the 285 weight class to put the Rockets up 6-0. 

After a Titans pin to even things up, Connor Bloomstrom pinned his opponent in the 112 class to put the Rockets up 12-6. 

Warren Woods Tower then scored 15 points in the next three matches to take a 21-12 lead. The Rockets then scored 17 straight points on a decision by Alex Chipman, a pin by Kaden Edwards, a technical fall by Thade Radosa and a decision by James Rozycki to lead 29-21. 

A pin and a decision for the Titans in the next two rounds put Reeths-Puffer down 30-29 with just two matches remaining.

A major decision win by Colby Stephenson in the 189 weight class gave the Rockets four points and a 33-30 lead heading into the final match.

Jacob Udell finished the match with a 14-10 decision over his opponent to seal the win for Reeths-Puffer.
