The Hart girls basketball squad overcame a rough start and managed to dig deep and defeat Evart 50-38 on Friday to win a Division 3 district title.

The Pirates had a slim 8-7 lead after the first quarter, then Evart took a 20-12 advantage early in the second quarter. But Hart went on a 6-0 run to close the first half and only trailed 20-18 at halftime.

Hart had a 33-32 lead heading into the fourth quarter and finished the contest strong, scoring 17 of the last 25 points in the game.

Freshman Aspen Boutell was a key difference in the game, scoring 13 of her 14 points in the second half and knocking down 5-of-7 free throws during the fourth quarter.

Boutell also had five steals in the game while Jayd Hovey added 12 points, five steals and four assists.

Nicole Rockwell finished with 10 points and five rebounds for the Pirates and Rylee Noggle recorded eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds. 

Hart is now 19-4 overall on the season and with head to Grayling High School on Tuesday to face Manton in the D3 regional semifinals.
