The Hart girls basketball team won a close overtime game over Shelby 42-41 on Wednesday in Division 3 district semifinal contest.

Jayd Hovey nailed the lone basketball in overtime for the Pirates, who outscored Shelby 2-1 in the extra session.

Hart led 13-12 after the first quarter and 23-22 at halftime before trailing 31-29 heading into the fourth.

The Pirates outscored Shelby 11-9 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Nicole Rockwell paced the Pirates with 15 points, while Hovey pitched in with 12. 

The Tigers were led by Kendall Zoulek with 14 points and nine rebounds. Luaren Dean also scored 14 points.

The Tigers finished their campaign at 12-9 overall.

The Pirates improved to 17-5 overall and advanced to host Evart on Friday night for a district title.
