The Kent City girls basketball team cruised to a 61-26 win over Hesperia in a Division 3 district semifinal contest on Wednesday.

The Eagles jumped out to a 16-5 lead in the first quarter and led 34-7 at halftime. The momentum carried over to the third quarter where the Kent City outscored the Panthers by a 17-12 margin. 

Lexie Bowers paced the Eagles with 19 points, while Kenzie Bowers chipped in with 13 and Jenna Harrison had 10.

The Panthers were led by Emily Bayle with 10 points. 

The Eagles improved to 21-1 overall on the season, while Hesperia end its season 8-13 overall.

Kent City will host the winner of White Cloud and Morley-Stanwood on Friday in the district finals.
