Jeffery Carrier’s three-point basketball forced overtime which ultimately resulted in a 41-39 win for the Mason County Central boys basketball team over Ludington on Tuesday in non-league action.

The Spartans trailed 8-7 after the first quarter, then outscored Ludington by a 11-3 margin during the second stanza to take a 18-11 halftime lead.

Ludington cut the deficit to 24-20 heading into the fourth quarter then went on a 9-2 run to take a 29-26 advantage late in regulation.

Carrier’s three-point shot extended the game, then Mason County Central built a seven-point lead during the extra session and held on for a close victory.

The Spartans were led by Carrier with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Malakye Strejcek added four points and nine rebounds.

Riley Calhoun and Brayden Porter paced the Orioles with 12 points each while Peyton Lacombe added seven points and 10 rebounds.

Mason County Central is now 10-10 overall and 5-9 in conference action, while the Orioles fell to 13-7 on the season and 8-2 in league play.
