The Muskegon Catholic girls basketball team advanced to the Division 4 district finals with a 45-39 win over Muskegon Heights Wednesday night.

The Crusaders jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter. Muskegon Heights bounced back, outscoring the Crusaders 16-6 during the second quarter cutting its deficit to 19-18 at halftime.

MCC maintained the advantage at 32-30 through three quarters then outscored the Tigers by four points during the final stanza.

McKenna Gentry paced the Crusaders with 20 points, while Jailyn Johnson pitched in with 10, and Calvin’Nae Simmons scored six. 

The Crusaders improved to 6-15 this season and will face Fruitport Calvary Christian in the district finals on Friday at Muskegon Heights.
