There has been a special place many in the Muskegon area have been traveling to lately.
For those who know the location, there isn’t any struggle imagining the unforgettable bend in the road when they first see Pere Marquette Beach.
A place where dreams happen so many days out the year for so many people, Pere Marquette Beach provides nearly endless entertainment. From watching sunsets to waves, there isn’t a more incredible place to spend a day or evening.
While the world has gone COVID with every sporting event from Muskegon to Shanghai canceled, at least cool Lake Michigan has not been short on waves this spring.
With incredible winds that brew over Lake Michigan, waves always have a potential to be a spectacle at Pere Marquette Beach. From giant rolling boulders to ankle biters, Lake Michigan’s ability to create waves and entertain people is a constant attraction.
Back on Friday, March 13, the lake showed it still had what it took to provide some fun waves for surfers Marc Hoeksema, Nate Knoth, and Jason Gorski.
With a sunset backdrop, Hoeksema, Knoth and Gorski road the waist to shoulder-high waves for several hours before exhausting themselves just as the sun dipped below the Lake Michigan horizon.
LSJ photographer Jason Goorman happened to be at the beach and captured some of the action.
