On Friday and Saturday, local area high school boys bowling teams took part in Michigan High School Athletic Association regional tournament action at various locations.

By finishing in the top three as a team, or in the top 10 individually, bowlers qualify for state final action at various sites on March 6-7.

In Division 1, Justin Strait of Grand Haven was an individual regional champ with a score of 1315, finishing 34 pins ahead of second place.

The Oakridge boys bowling team finished second behind Belding in the Division 3 regional at Park Center Lanes. The Eagles totaled 3927 pins while Belding scored 2927. Oakridge was led by Trenton Slater who finished seventh overall and Josh Felcoski who finished tenth.

The Ravenna boys team took home a regional title, totaling 3546 pins to outpace Grandville Calvin Christian who totaled 3454 pins. Ethan May led the Bulldogs with an individual regional championship, total 1205 pins.

The following is a list of state final qualifiers. Bowlers who finished in the top 10 have their score and place listed.

Kent City: Ty Pyne (3rd, 1124), Curtis Poling (7th, 1061)

Western Michigan Christian: Trent Gauthier (4th, 1115), Paul Boik (6th, 1075), Gabe Gauthier (10th, 1045)
