The Fruitport tennis team kicked off its season with a pair of tough losses last week.
The Trojans fell to Sparta 7-1, and Cedar Springs 8-0.
The lone winner for Fruitport was Zander Beatty, who defeated Sparta’s Isiah Reiser 6-1, 6-3 in a No. 2 singles match.
Also turning in a strong performance was Fruitport’s Jordan Hennings, who battled hard before losing to Sparta’s Troy Jones 6-3., 6-4 in a No. 1 singles match.
The Trojans’ No. 1 doubles team of Davis Gilbert and Jenna Springstead also put up a fight in their 6-3, 6-4 loss to Sparta.
