The Montague girls golf team continued its strong start to the season by placing second in the 12-team Kent County Classic on Thursday at Saskatoon Golf Course in Grand Rapids.

The Wildcats also took second in the season-opening Mona Shores Invitational on Wednesday.

Montague tied with Coopersville for second place with a team score of 354. Forest Hills Northern was the champion with a 311. NorthPointe Christian was fourth with a 364, followed by Forest Hills Central (369), Caledonia and Forest Hills Eastern (374), Grand Rapids Cathlic (402), Calvin Christian 410, the Montague B team (424), Lowell (453) and Grand Rapids Union (520).

The top Wildcat golfers were Megan Brown, who tied for sixth individually with an 82, and Orianna Bylsma, who finished 12th with an 97.

The individual champion was Lylia Henkel of Forest Hills Northern, who shot a 68.
