The Montague volleyball team hadn’t even worked out in a gym yet this season, due to state restrictions that have kept teams in the southern part of the Lower Peninsula from competing indoors.

But teams can play up north, which the Wildcats did on Tuesday, and the results were impressive, to say the least.

Montague swept to a perfect 3-0 record at the Cadillac Quad, beating North Branch 3-1, Mount Morris 3-0 and Cadillac 3-0.

The Wildcats won their first set in the opener against North Branch 25-21, lost the second set 25-20, and then rallied to dominate the third set 25-12.

The rolled from there, winning their last six games against their other two opponents with ease. Neither Mount Morris nor Cadillac came closer than five points to Montague in any of the games.

Reilly Murphy was a big hitter for Montague, collecting 54 kills on the day while serving up six aces. Ally Hall added 22 kills while Raegan Murphy had 11 kills, served five aces and totaled 114 assists.

Defensively. Morgan Netcott paced the Wildcats with 44 digs while Hall added 26.
