The North Muskegon boys tennis team got the season off to a great start on Wednesday by capturing the title at the Grand Rapids South Christian Sailor Quad tournament.

The Norse finished with 19 team points, followed by GR South Christian (14), Whitehall (12) and Calvin Christian (3).

North Muskegon players took first place in five of the eight flights, including all four singles flights, and finished second in two others.

The Norse singles champions were Brennen McManus (No. 1 singles), Chris Erndteman (No. 2 singles), Troy McManus (No. 3 singles) and Charlie Branch (No. 4 singles).

Shamus Corbutt and Gavin Grimm won the No. 3 doubles title for North Muskegon. Pierce Marczak and Jack Taylor were runners-up at No. 2 doubles and Grayson Hionton and Gus West finished second at No. 4 doubles.

Whitehall players also had a good day. Aiden Raymond and Sam Cole won the title in No. 2 doubles, while Ashton Trnka (No. 1 singles), Ryan Findorff (No. 2 singles) and Rob Hentschel (No. 3 singles) finished second in their flights.
