The Fruitport Calvary Christian soccer team kept battling and finally outdistanced Wellspring Prep 4-3 in an Alliance League matchup on Friday in its season opener.
Wellspring scored first, then the Eagles collected first-half goals from Luke Assaad and Ethan Pollock, before Wellspring scored again to make it 2-2 at halftime.
The Eagles pulled ahead in the second half with goals from Pollock and Zach Hazekamp. Wellspring scored once more, but it was not enough and Fruitport Calvary escaped with the victory.
