The Grand Haven volleyball team ran into some tough competition on Thursday at a multi-team event at Grand Rapids Christian High School.

The Bucs lost in straight sets to GR Christian (19-25, 10-25, 15-25) in the opener. They won the first set against Byron Center, then lost the last three sets and the match 25-23, 14-25, 13-25, 22-25.  

Mackenzie Gross led the Grand Haven offense with 24 kills, Tessa Winkleman served four aces and Samantha Boeve had 54 assists.

Defensively, Hallie Rittel had 33 digs and Ashlyn Pahl had seven blocks.

Grand Haven is now 7-4 on the season.
