The Greater Muskegon Co-Op girls swimming and diving team kicked off its 2020 season on Tuesday with a 104-82 victory over Spring Lake in an O-K Green conference match.

The local team, comprised of athletes from Mona Shores, Western Michigan Christian, North Muskegon and Muskegon Catholic, is nicknamed the Lady Turtles.

The Turtles were led by senior Evyn Johnson, who won both the 50 free and l00 fly. Johnson made a state cut in the 50 free with a time of 24.73.

Caroline Carlson dominated the 200 free/500 free, with both races being personal record swims. Senior Olivia McKenna won the 100 breast. Senior Michaela Sander won the 1 meter diving event.  The 200 medley relay team of Caroline Carlson, Olivia McKenna, Alaina Kohley and Evyn Johnson also took first, along with the 400 free relay team of Johnson, Robyn Hunt, Carlson and McKenna.

The team finished with 26 personal record swims.
