The Hesperia volleyball squad opened its season with a strong statement on Thursday, sweeping both Algoma Christian and Muskegon Catholic in straight sets.

The Panthers beat Algoma Christian 25-12, 25-11, 15-8 and MCC 25-17, 25-15, 15-10. 

Emily Bayle and Rachel Romero paced the Panthers with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Bayle also served seven aces, while Kyra Sayer and Aria Thomas each had 15 assists.

Defensively, Bayle had 23 digs and Romero added 13. Romero led in the block department with three.
