The Muskegon Big Reds opened the season with a strong statement on Friday by going on the road and downing Holland 59-14 in O-K Green conference matchup.

The Big Reds came out firing on all cylinders, leading 30-0 after one quarter and 43-0 at halftime.

Quarterback Myles Walton had a big night, rushing for four touchdowns and 133 yards and 11 carries, and completing four of five passes for 52 yards.

The other Muskegon touchdowns were scored by Demetri Chapman, Jacarri Kitchen and Meshaune Crowley.

Kitchen rushed the ball three times for 104 yards while Chapman picked up 89 yards on four attempts. 

Julius Sims was the leading receiver with two receptions for 44 yards.

Defensively Sims led the Big Reds in tackles with nine while Je’Lynn Fox finished with seven.
