The Oakridge volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 sweep of Hart in a West Michigan Conference match on Tuesday.

Leading the Eagles on the night was Hayden Ruel, who had 18 service points and 28 assists. Bri Benson and Sadie Raap had six kills each. Raap also had 15 service points and three blocks. Emma Fri had a strong night defensively with 16 digs.

Leading the Pirates on the stat board were Finley Kistler with 17 assists; Ariana Borrego with 24 digs; Avery Beachum with seven kills, and Cassidy Copenhaver with 4 kills and 15 digs.

Oakridge is now 1-0 on the season, while Hart is 0-1.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

WHITEHALL 3, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 0 – The Vikings opened their conference schedule with a 25-12, 25-9, 25-13 victory.

Charlie Baker and Lauryn Carr each had nine kills for Whitehall while Charley Klint added eight. Maggie Evans served five aces and Riley Mott had three.

Defensively, Riley Mott totaled 24 digs and Cam Evans contributed 10. Carr had four blocks and Arianna Black had three.

The Vikings are now 4-3 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

NORTH MUSKEGON 3, SHELBY 0 -The Norse defeated the Tigers in a conference match on Tuesday night. 

Syann Fairfield paced the Norse with 14 kills. Molly Stewert and Natalie Pannucci both finished with seven kills. Emma Houseman dished out 36 assists. 

Megan Houseman had four aces and seven digs. 

Ella Olmstead and Kendall Zoulek paced Shelby with five kills apiece. Daphne Clark had six assists while Lauren Dean added five. Defensively, Morgan Weirich and Zoulek had 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

Shelby fell to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

MONTAGUE 3, RAVENNA 0 – The Wildcats swept the Bulldogs in their West Michigan Conference opener Tuesday night. The set scores were 25-19, 25-14 and 25-17.

Montague was paced by Reilly Murphy with 13 kills, while Leehah Bentz finished with eight. Raegan Murphy dished out 37 assists while Taylor Netcott had three aces. 

Defensively Ally Hall led the way with 11 digs. Netcott and Raegan Murphy both had 10 digs. 

The Wildcats improved to 9-1 overall and are 1-0 in conference play.

O-K GREEN

HOLLAND 3, MUSKEGON 0 – The Big Reds dropped an O-K Green conference battle to the Dutch on Tuesday.

The Big Reds lost in straight sets 12-25, 14-25, and 9-25. Holland served the ball well, and when serves were returned, the Big Reds struggled to finish off plays. 

No individual stats were reported. 

The Big Reds fell to 0-6 on the season.

O-K BLUE

HAMILTON 3, FRUITPORT 0 – The Trojans fell narrowly to Hamilton in straight sets, 27-29, 24-26, 19-25.

Sarah Zielinski led Fruitport defensively with 17 digs, while offensively Sydney Woods had a team-high eight kills. Jenna VanderVelde had 17 assists.

The Trojans are now 2-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

LAKES 8

LUDINGTON 3, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 0 – The Orioles swept the match by scores of 25-16, 25-13, 26-24.

For Ludington, De’Lahna Porter had a strong performance with 13 kills, two blocks, three aces, and eight dig. Elena Vaara had 13 kills, four blocks, one ace, and nine digs. Veronique Chapman also played a big part with 25 assists, one ace, and nine digs.

The Crusaders’ effort was led by Claire Lavigne with 19 assists, three aces, and four kills. Also chipping in were Erin Lavigne with six kills and seven digs, Cara Burkall with five kills and one block, and Emma Maierhauser with a team-high 10 digs.

It was the first Lakes 8 Conference match for both teams.

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 3, ORCHARD VIEW 0 – The Warriors swept the Cardinals in their Lakes 8 conference opener Tuesday night. WMC won the sets 25-8, 25-11 and 25-11.

Kyla Wiersema paced the Warriors with 11 kills, while Alisha Leffring finished off eight kills. Kendal Young had four aces and dished out 33 assists. 

Defensively, Young led the way with 10 digs, while Libby Mast led the front line with two blocks.  

The Warriors improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Cardinals are now 1-3 overall and 0-1 in conference.   

CSAA

HESPERIA 3, WHITE CLOUD 1 – The Panthers took the CSAA match in straight sets on Monday, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15, 25-23.

Emily Bayle and Rachel Romero had 15 and 11 kills, respectively, for Hesperia. Bayle also led at the serve line with four aces while Kyra Sayer had three. Sayer also had 19 assists while Aria Thomas had eight.

Defensively, Bayle had 17 digs and Romero added 16. Sierra Cechura had 11 digs.

Hesperia is 3-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
