The Whitehall football team improved to 2-0 on the season with an easy 64-0 victory over Shelby in West Michigan Conference action on Friday.

Whitehall got on the board with an 18-yard touchdown run by Alec Pruett with 8:23 left in the first quarter. The Vikings went up 13-0 later in the first on a 37-yard pass from Andrew Durbin to Mario Moore.

In the second quarter, Ira Jenkins recorded a safety for Whitehall. Red Watson took the ensuing free kick 48 yards, then Durbin scored from a yard out to put the Vikings up 22-0. Pruett added another TD before halftime and Whitehall led 29-0 at the break.

The Vikings added second half touchdowns from Pruett (nine-yard run), Kris Dowdell (36-yard run), Connor Young (47-yard run), Brayden VanPetten (pick six) and Jaiden Altgilbers (72-yard run).

Durbin rushed for 129 yards, Altgilbers added 103 yards and Pruett totaled with 87. Jenkins led the Whitehall defense with 7.5 tackles, with two sacks.

Peyton Mero led the way for Shelby with 27 yards rushing and 26 receiving. Xavier Wallace was tops on the defensive side with five tackles on the night.

Shelby is 0-2 overall and in the conference.
