North Muskegon topped Reeths-Puffer in a five-set battle in the first round of the GMAA City Tournament Monday night.

The Norse took the first two sets, 25-23 and 25-16, before the Rockets rallied to win the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-22. In the fifth set, North Muskegon thwarted the comeback attempt with a 15-9 win.

Syann Fairfield led the Norse with 30 kills, while Natalie Pannucci added 11. Emma Houseman had 46 assists, Megan Houseman led with 15 digs and Josee Cooke finished with five aces. 

Brianna Stawski led the Rockets with 16 kills and four blocks. Leah Ellis had 23 digs, nine kills and two aces while Sophia Hekkema added eight kills, six digs, three blocks and two aces and Ally Seiber had six kills and five blocks.

North Muskegon improves to 16-6 and will face Mason County Central Tuesday. Reeths-Puffer falls to 8-9 on the season, including 5-2 in conference play. 

HOLTON 3, LAKEVIEW 1 — The Red Devils finished the night with 17 aces as they beat CSAA Silver foe Lakeview. Holton won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-23 before dropping the third set 25-22. The Red Devils bounced back in the fourth set winning 25-20.

Layna Cartwright paced Holton with 11 kills, while Ryann Robins, and Gianna Reed finished off five kills a piece. Alanna Cregg led the team serving with five aces. Abbie Fowler and Kendall Greene finished with three aces a piece. Fowler facilitated the offense, dishing out 14 assists. 

Defensively, Kennedy Greene finished the evening with 11 digs, while Cregg and Fowler finished the evening with nine digs a piece

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 3, WEST MICIHGAN AVIATION ACADEMY 0 — The Eagles swept conference rivals WMAA Monday night. Calvary won by scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-20.

Emmalee Dykman led the Eagles with 13 kills, 12 digs and two blocks. Logan Burgess had a team-high 22 digs. Bekah Dukes had 27 assists, 10 digs and three aces, while Ella Dkyman had nine kills and two aces. 

Fruitport Calvary is now 8-4-1 on the season overall and 6-1 in Alliance Conference action. 

MUSKEGON CATHOLIC CENTRAL 3, MUSKEGON 0 — The Crusaders defeated the Big Reds in non-conference action Monday evening. MCC won in straight sets, 25-12, 25-13 and 25-7.

Maria Modaff and McKenna Gentry finished the game with eight kills each, while Erin LaVigne finished with six kills. Erin LaVigne led the way serving with five aces, while Claire LaVigne recorded four. Claire LaVigne facilitated the offense by dishing out 25 assists. 

Defensively, Erin LaVigne recorded eight digs, while Emma Maierhauser finished the night with four.

The Crusaders improved to 7-6 overall this season.

OAKRIDGE 3, RAVENNA 0 — The Eagles defeated the Wildcats in West Michigan Conference volleyball action. Oakridge won in three straight 25-20, 25-21, and 25-12. 

Saidee Raap paced the Eagles with seven kills and seven blocks, while Bri Benson and Riann Fri finished the game with six kills a piece. Hayden Ruel led the Eagles in serving with four aces and totaled 16 assists. Emma Fri led the way defensively with 13 digs. 

WMC goes 2-0 Monday night — The Warriors picked up a pair of wins as they hosted NorthPointe Christian and Fremont for a tri. All three teams played each other in three sets to 25.

The Warriors defeated the Packers in all three sets 25-21, 25-22, and 25-16 and swept their matchup against NorthPointe Christian, winning the sets 25-16, 25-22, and 25-16. 

Alisha Leffring and Kyla Wiersema paced the Warriors with 18 kills each. Libby Mast finished the night with 14 kills. Taylor Folkema recorded five aces, while Leffring and Haley Breuker recorded two aces a piece. Kendal Young facilitated the offense by dishing out 65 assists. 

Defensively, Young led the defense with 19 digs, while Folkema recorded 10 digs. Leffring finished the evening with 16 digs and four blocks. Maddie Wiersema and Mast each recorded four blocks a piece.

The Warriors improve to 18-10 overall this year.
