The Montague football team produced 496 yards on 67 plays to remain unbeaten after a 48-6 win over Ravenna on Friday in a West Michigan Conference game.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter, scoring on a 29-yard rushing touchdown by Drew Collins, and a pair of rushing touchdowns by Sam Smith from five and two yards out.

Collins added another touchdown in the second quarter from three yards out to increase Montague’s lead to 28-0 before halftime.

The Wildcats added a pair of the third quarter touchdowns on an eight-yard scamper from Smith and a 19-yard touchdown pass from Collins to Tugg Nichols to give Montague a 42-0 lead heading into the final stanza. 

Ravenna ended the shutout bid with a seven-yard pass from Thomas McCullogh to Grant Becklin to cut the Wildcat advantage to 42-6.

Montague closed out the scoring with an 11-yard receiving touchdown from Andrew Kooi to Izac Jarka.

Collins finished the night with 23-of-27 passing for 307 yards and a touchdown. He also tacked on 75 rushing yards on 12 attempts and two rushing touchdowns.

Smith recorded 35 yards on nine attempts, scoring two touchdowns. 

Nichols finished the game with 10 receptions for 115 yards. Owen Peterson hauled in six receptions for 97 yards. 

The Wildcats were paced defensively by Jarka, Hayden McDonald and David Dobson with three tackles each.

Ravenna was led by Steven Cook with 38 rushing yards. Cook and Nichols each had four tackles apiece to pace the Bulldog defense.

The Wildcats, who will face Shelby next week, improved to 3-0 overall.

Ravenna (1-2) will play Hart next Friday.
