The Muskegon Big Reds opened up the Division 3 high school football playoffs on Saturday with a resounding 56-7 victory over Greenville at Hackley Stadium.

The Big Reds collected the victory with a series of big plays for touchdowns, including scoring runs of 55 and 88 yards by Jacarri Kitchen, 96 yards by Myles Walton, 80 and 35 yards by Amari Crowley, and 70 yards by Destin Piggee.

Muskegon also scored on a five-yard TD run by Dedrick Fondren and a 19-yard touchdown pass from Crowley to Walton.

The score was 14-0 after one quarter, 42-0 at halftime and 49-0 after three quarters.

Crowley, Muskegon’s senior quarterback, ran for 136 yards and two touchdowns and completed five of six passes for 72 yards and one touchdown. Kitchen ran for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Pierre Johnson led the Muskegon defense with seven tackles, including five solo stops. Jonathon Adams had six tackles, including three solos, while Tyreese Oakes had one interception.

The Big Reds, now 6-1 on the season, will host Cedar Springs next weekend in the second round of districts. The day and time of the game will be announced.
