The Fremont Packers earned its first victory of the season Friday with a 42-26 win over Chippewa Hills in CSAA Gold action. The win snaps a 17-game losing streak dating back to Sept. 14, 2018.

The Packers are now 1-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play this season.

Fremont quarterback Payton Mansfield had a standout performance with 266 yards passing, 147 yards rushing and five rushing touchdowns on 20 carries.

Mansfield opened the scoring on a one-yard rushing touchdown late in the first quarter. Mansfield added a six-yard score in the second quarter to extend the lead to 14-0.

Chippewa Hills got on the board with 6:51 left in the second quarter to make it 14-8 following a two-point conversion.

Fremont answered back with two more touchdowns before the half, a 45-yard run from Mansfield and a five-yard dash from Tristen Marfia, to take a 28-8 lead into the break.

Chippewa Hills answered back in the third quarter with a pair of touchdowns to make it 28-20.

Mansfield took control of the game in the fourth quarter with two more rushing touchdowns, one from a yard out and one for 37 yards.

Marfia had 79 yards rushing on 15 carries, while Adam Halasinski had seven catches for 144 receiving yards.
