Reeths-Puffer uses dominant first half to advance to Division 2 district finals

The Reeths-Puffer soccer team defeated Whitehall 5-0 in a Division 2 district semifinal on Tuesday.

The Rockets racked up five goals within the first half and cruised to victory in the second half.

An early corner kick leading to an own goal put the Rockets in the lead 1-0.

Brady Wheeler then scored for Reeths-Puffer, followed by Jaxon Carpenter a few minutes later, putting the Rockets up 3-0.

Preston Carpenter put in another goal for the Rockets with nine minutes left in the half, to take a 4-0 lead.

Tanner O’Neal scored the last goal of the game a few minutes later, launching the ball in from thirty yards out.

The Rockets outshot Whitehall 19-11 in the victory.

Reeths-Puffer’s goalkeeper, freshman Gage Hopkins picked up the shutout victory.

Reeths-Puffer will move on to play Spring Lake on Thursday in the Division 2 district finals at Fruitport.
